Program Orientation
This program aligns with China’s national strategy for AI development and Shandong Province’s demand for digital transformation talent. It aims to cultivate innovative, interdisciplinary professionals equipped with solid management theory, robust knowledge of data science, entrepreneurial mindset, professional ethics, and a global outlook—particularly for the energy industry. The program aspires to become a leading undergraduate program in Shandong and a nationally/internationally recognized brand with energy-focused characteristics.
Historical Development
The program began enrollment in 2001. In 2012 and 2014, it was granted approval to offer a doctoral degree and postdoctoral research in Management Science and Engineering. Since 2013, it has adopted a “foundation + specialization” personalized training model. In 2019, it launched the “3+1+1” international program in cooperation with the National University of Singapore.

§Energy + IT Talent Development: Leveraging the university’s oil and gas industry advantage, the program works closely with CNPC Planning Institute, CNPC Shandong Sales, and leading IT firms such as Inspur to cultivate talent at the intersection of energy and information technology.
§Strong Academic Support: Backed by a top-tier Management Science and Engineering discipline, rated B in the fourth national discipline assessment, tying with Shandong University for first in the province. A complete bachelor-master-doctorate pipeline is in place.
§Four-tier Practical Training System: Students are engaged in course-based, professional, enterprise, and innovation-oriented practice. National innovation platforms support student participation in competitions such as “Internet+” and “Challenge Cup,” enhancing practical and creative abilities.

The program has maintained a graduate employment rate of 93.24% over the past three years.
