Program Orientation

This program is designed to meet the growing demand for accounting professionals in support of China’s high-quality economic development. It aims to become a nationally recognized program with distinct characteristics. The goal is to cultivate high-level accounting professionals who possess innovative thinking, strong professional ethics, international perspectives, and solid knowledge of management, economics, accounting theory, and practical accounting skills, capable of working in accounting, auditing, and financial management roles in various organizations.

Historical Development

The program traces its roots to the financial accounting diploma program established in 1985. It launched as an undergraduate major in 1993 and gained master’s degree-granting rights in 2003. In 2010, it was approved to offer the MPAcc degree. Since 2013, the program has partnered with ICAEW to offer ACA-track classes, and in 2019 it introduced an ACCA program track.

  • §Strong integration of theory and practice:
    The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical depth and practical accounting skills. The program adopts a dual-strength model that combines economic and financial theories with applied competencies.

  • §Practice and experimentation system with energy-industry focus:
    Supported by the university’s robust resources in the energy sector, the program has established a multi-level practice framework featuring one core, two platforms, three tiers, and four innovation drivers. This enhances students' hands-on and industry-relevant experience.

  • §International and industry collaboration:
    Through partnerships with global professional bodies and enterprises, the program expands global perspectives and career pathways for students. It has developed role model mechanisms for training leading talent in petroleum industry accounting, and offers international tracks for global readiness.

Graduate Prospects

Over the past three years, the average initial employment rate has reached 87.4%.

  • §34.2% of graduates are employed by Fortune Global 500 companies, particularly in the energy, finance, manufacturing, and business services sectors.

  • §The graduate school placement rate has steadily increased, with 22% admitted to top-tier domestic institutions such as Central University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin University, and Xiamen University.

  • §The overseas study rate averages 16.2%, with students attending prestigious universities in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
