Program Overview

The master's program in Accounting at China University of Petroleum (East China) was granted degree-conferring status in 2003 and began admitting students in 2004. In 2010, the program obtained approval to offer the Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) degree.

This program has developed a stable structure of research directions, including financial accounting and auditing, management and intelligent accounting, and financial management and capital markets. It has achieved notable research outcomes in fields such as value management for petroleum enterprises and financial decision-making in listed companies.

The program emphasizes the integrated development of knowledge, capabilities, and character. It is committed to cultivating high-level, interdisciplinary professionals with strong academic competence, practical skills, professional integrity, and innovative research capacity. Graduates of this program are widely recognized for their strong competitiveness in the job market.

Financial Accounting and Auditing

This track is based on the conceptual  framework of financial accounting and addresses core issues in financial and auditing theory and practice. Research topics include financial accounting systems, auditing practices, accounting in resource and environmental contexts, public and nonprofit accounting, and energy enterprise-specific accounting and auditing behavior.

Management Accounting and Intelligent   Accounting

This area focuses on theories and applications in management accounting and intelligent accounting. Topics  include cost accounting and control, performance evaluation, environmental cost management, accounting with big data, and financial shared services. Special emphasis is placed on cost management practices in energy  enterprises.

Financial Management and Capital Markets

This research direction explores financial management and capital markets, with a focus on corporate finance, public finance, and China’s capital market practices. It covers financial theories and methods, corporate governance and finance, tax planning, and energy sector financial policy.

Study Format and Duration

The academic master’s program combines coursework, research training, and academic exchange, and is conducted under individual or team-based supervision models.

It is offered primarily as a full-time program.
