Recently, the School successfully completed the reconstitution of its 12th Degree Evaluation Sub-Committee and held the first working meeting. The new committee is chaired by Interim Dean Jian Ling, with Vice Dean Zhang Xixi (in charge of undergraduate education) and Vice Dean Zhang Mingming (in charge of graduate education) serving as vice chairs, and Professor Wang Ningning as secretary. Committee members include Bai Yang, Wang Jun, Wang Yong, Wang Hui, Liu Bingquan, Sun Yanfang, Li Leiming, Li Yongbo, and Zheng Haidong.
The core agenda of this inaugural meeting was the review and voting on the September 2025 cohort of doctoral and master’s degree applications. After careful deliberation and anonymous voting, the committee recommended awarding doctoral degrees to three PhD candidates and master’s degrees to nine part-time postgraduate students.
Chair Jian Ling emphasized that degree conferral is closely tied to the quality of talent cultivation and the academic reputation of the School, and carries great responsibility. He called on the new committee to uphold the standards of “professional excellence and responsibility,” faithfully fulfilling their duties. Looking ahead, SEM will systematically review regulations and procedures related to degree conferral, further optimize workflows, and promote standardized and refined management. These measures aim to ensure the scientific, fair, and rigorous execution of degree evaluation and to safeguard the quality of degree conferral, thereby laying a solid foundation for high-level talent cultivation.

During the meeting, all committee members actively performed their duties and offered constructive suggestions on key processes such as thesis review, defense, and degree conferral. The 12th Degree Evaluation Sub-Committee has now commenced its work in a comprehensive and orderly manner.
