On the morning of July 3, the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences Development, together with the School of Economics and Management (SEM) of China University of Petroleum (East China), hosted the 76th Youth Scholar Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences in Room 580, Wenli Building. The forum was themed “Research on Project Scheduling in the Era of the Sharing Economy” and featured academic presentations by Associate Professor Hu Xuejun (School of Business Administration, Hunan University) and Associate Professor Wang Jianjiang (College of Systems Engineering, National University of Defense Technology). The session was chaired by Associate Professor Ma Zhiqiang of SEM, with guidance from Ms. Zhang Ningshan of the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences Development. Faculty members He Lihua and Li Songrui, along with master’s and doctoral students, participated both onsite and via Tencent Meeting.

Associate Professor Hu Xuejun shared his latest research on multi-project resource sharing and scheduling. He presented a two-level optimization model combining resource planning and task scheduling, supported by intelligent optimization algorithms. His talk highlighted applications of “macro modes” and “resource blocks” in multi-project resource sharing and provided methodological suggestions for conducting literature reviews and writing introductions.

Associate Professor Wang Jianjiang presented his team’s research on satellite resource sharing and task scheduling, focusing on variants of the team orienteering problem (TOP). He introduced two mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) models and a branch-price-and-cut (BPC) algorithm, demonstrating the effectiveness of the approach through comparative analysis. He emphasized that meaningful research requires genuine innovation in models and algorithms and adaptability across application scenarios.

Associate Professor Ma Zhiqiang also introduced progress in his research on joint optimization of time-shared resources and robust project scheduling, covering robustness evaluation, proactive and reactive scheduling approaches, and related developments.

In the discussion session, participants exchanged views on topics including multi-project resource sharing, satellite task scheduling, and robust scheduling optimization. The forum concluded successfully with a lively academic atmosphere and fruitful exchanges.
